1975   Morris Levy

Morris Levy, music mogul and founder of Roulette Records, was notorious for swindling artists out of their royalties and using gangland tactics to get his way.

                       

Levy attempted to strong-arm John Lennon into releasing early material (Roots) to be produced by Phil Spector.  He lost a legal battle but released a bootleg version anyway.
